CEO has organized and participated on a number of round-table discussions and panels, has provided consultations to policymakers (the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and the Parliament directly) and its individual members have authored tens of papers of academic or general nature.
As the need for policy papers increased and the number of invitations for consultations to policymakers doubled in the second half of 2010, CEO has founded two small research groups (affiliated with Universities) to produce a series of policy briefs on topics currently tackled through 3 EU-funded IPA projects in the field of VET.
Since the foundation our organization has organized two cycles of training on Bologna process and European educational policies for students and academic staff. From 2006 to 2010 we have had more than 50 trainings in 25 Croatian cities. Also more than 30.000 copies of CEO “Handbook on higher education in Croatia for freshmen” was distributed. In the same period our organization published (or was involved in writing) more than ten different handbooks on various topics concerning higher education
In 2008 CEO stared an initiative with a purpose of creating online communication of European polices. By now one project has been finished – “Eupress.net”, and two more are in the process of finalization – “Erudit.net” (On line news aggregator for Education, Science and Innovation in Europe) and “Web 2.0 Bologna Process Information Site”.
In the field of Quality Assurance in HE our organization was the first one that created a system for Quality assessment on all levels of HE Institutions in 2005/06. The questioners were used by a number of faculties within University of Zagreb
From 2006 to 2010 our members were involved in 7 projects funded by the EU trough CARDS, PHARE, IPA, TEMPUS and FP.
Consulations for Public Administation and key stakeholders:
Consultation to the Parliamentary Committee for Education, Science and Culture, September – October 2010. CEO researchers prepared a presentation and policy recommendations upon request from the Committee on the topic of radical changes proposed by new laws in the field of higher education and science. A policy paper is scheduled to be published by mid 2011.
Consultation to the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration, April 2009. Although the negotiations chapter on education was provisionally closed in December 2008, CEO researchers prepared a presentation and policy recommendations upon request from the Committee on impact assessment of the implementation of the Bologna process. This enabled the Committee to examine the results of policies administered by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports.
Consultation to the Council for education of the City of Zagreb , December 2010. CEO members have provided inputs for the official sectoral development strategy for 2011.
